Conditions for provision of translations
Our rates are based on units of 1500 characters (spaces included).
Such a unit normally consists of a typed page of 25 lines with 60 characters per line.
For translations in legal format or similar, a unit consists of 25 lines with 50 characters per line. Rates are exclusive of VAT (at 22%).
The minimum amount payable is always the rate for one unit.
The translation must be commissioned by a letter of assignment or equivalent, which will result in information about the fees, and the terms of payment and delivery.
The translator must be able to inspect the text to be translated in advance.
The original text must be delivered to the translator in a readable form, and complete with any accompanying tables, graphs or images.
It should also be accompanied by any available documentation relevant to the subject concerned.
The client is responsible for arranging delivery and collection and for the associated costs.
The terms of delivery are binding only if agreed in advance, and relate exclusively to the material supplied on acceptance of the assignment.
The translator is responsible for the confidentiality of the client’s documents and for safeguarding them while they are in his possession.
On request by the customer, and at his expense, the translator will arrange insurance for the documents during the process of transfer.
Under the terms of Directive 2000/35/EC, payment of the agreed fee is due on receipt of the invoice or equivalent, and in any case not later than 30 days following delivery. Once that period has expired, overdue interest will be applied as per Article 3.1 of the Directive.
In full compliance with the professional ethics of translators, Polyline Translations guarantees complete confidentiality when handling the information provided by the customer.
For larger commissions, the translator will request a down payment on the agreed fee.
When commissions are assigned and subsequently cancelled, the translator will request a cancellation fee equal to 30% of the total sum agreed.
The completed translation is made available to the customer and must be paid for in full.
Any complaints must be submitted no later than 8 days from the date of delivery.
To calculate the final price of the translation, you can count the characters in the original document using the following method:
– open the text to be translated in Microsoft Word; – open the “Tools” menu; – select “Word Count”; – divide the number of “Characters (with spaces)” by 1500
